Haʻamonga ʻa Maui

Haʻamonga ʻa Maui is a large coral-limestone trilith at Heketā, near Niutōua, on Tongatapu. It is best understood together with Lapaha, since both form part of the territorial story of Tonga’s ancient capitals.

  • The trilith is traditionally associated with the Tuʻi Tonga Tuʻitātui.
  • Heketā’s historic park also includes the Maka Faʻakinanga stone slab.
