Kaiping

Kaiping brings together diaolou towers, villages, farmland and water across four heritage areas. Its interest lies in reading defensive architecture alongside rural life and the memory of emigrant communities, rather than visiting an isolated tower.

What makes it special

  • Zili combines towers with rice fields, ponds and homes.
  • Majianglong offers a village setting among bamboo and inhabited houses.
  • Jinjiangli focuses on Ruishi Lou, while Sanmenli preserves Yinglong Lou, presented as Kaiping’s oldest surviving diaolou.
