Lake Skadar

Lake Skadar is a protected wetland whose Montenegrin shore can be reached from Podgorica by train to Virpazar. Its changing waters suit a slow boat or kayak outing, with particular care for birds and the conditions on the day.

Lake Skadar from Podgorica by Train and on the Water

Lake Skadar is best visited without trying to take it all in. From Podgorica, the train reaches Virpazar without a car; after that, choosing just one experience—an unhurried boat ride, kayaking or a visitor centre—reduces haste and pressure on a protected wetland.
